BRIEF HISTORY OF PLATTE CITY
Platte City was founded in 1838 when Zadock Martin and his sons built a dam and grist mill on the Platte River. It became the Platte County seat in 1839 and grew rapidly, incorporating as a city in 1843. The town was burned by Union forces during the Civil War in 1861 but rebuilt, with key developments like schools, churches, and infrastructure following. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Platte City had modernized and continued to grow. Today, it stands as a vibrant small city with a rich history of resilience and growth.

ROOTED IN PLATTE CITY, COMMITTED TO THE FUTURE
Having grown up in Platte City, I have the unique privilege of driving through town and seeing the pieces of my story—houses I’ve called home, the baseball fields where I played, and the schools that shaped me. These places are more than landmarks; they’re reminders of a community that nurtured me, instilled my values, and inspired me to give back.
Over the years, I’ve watched Platte City evolve—welcoming new families, businesses, and opportunities while staying true to its small-town charm. Each change, big or small, has played a role in shaping who we are today. As we continue to grow, I believe it’s critical to approach every decision with thoughtfulness, strategy, and a deep commitment to what’s best for our community.
I’m running for the Board of Alderman because I care about preserving the heart of Platte City while embracing opportunities that improve the quality of life for all residents. My vision is for a future that reflects the values we cherish—family, community, and progress—while ensuring every step forward is purposeful and beneficial to all.
Together, we can ensure Platte City remains a place we’re proud to call home—not just for those of us who’ve grown up here, but for future generations to come.
