Committed to the Future

Four key areas drive my decision to run for office:

Community Development & Infastructure

The expansion of 92 Highway is a significant issue that directly impacts many of us in Ward 3, including myself as a resident of the Windmill Creek subdivision. This project has the potential to improve safety and traffic flow, but it also raises concerns that deserve careful consideration. I attended the recent information meeting and have taken the time to review the feedback from community members, particularly regarding the planned median and its impact on access to small businesses along the highway. As a small business owner, I deeply understand how restricted access can negatively affect customer traffic and the livelihood of these businesses. It’s essential that we find solutions that balance progress with preserving the accessibility and vibrancy of our local economy.

Transparency and Community Engagement

Transparency and community engagement are core values I am deeply passionate about, and I believe they are essential for effective local government. It’s crucial to get more members of our community involved in the decision-making process, especially those who reflect the majority demographic of Platte City. Representation matters, and we need diverse voices at the table to ensure our decisions benefit everyone. Over the past six months, I’ve attended numerous Planning and Zoning and Board of Alderman meetings, and I’ve noticed far too many empty seats.

I also believe it’s time for younger residents—particularly those with young children—to take an active role in shaping the future of Platte City. They have a unique perspective and a vested interest in building a thriving community for the next generation. Their involvement could play a vital role in creating a long-term vision for our city, ensuring it remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Let’s work together to fill those empty seats and make our local government more inclusive, transparent, and representative of the community we serve.

Local Economy &
Downtown Business

Downtown Platte City is on the cusp of an exciting transformation, and I believe we have an incredible opportunity to revitalize our local economy and breathe new life into our community. For years, it’s been disheartening to drive through downtown and see buildings filled with things but not open for business. However, in recent months, more buildings have been purchased, and there is a growing sense of hope and momentum for what’s to come.

We’re surrounded by small towns that have successfully turned their downtowns into vibrant hubs that attract both locals and tourists. I truly believe Platte City can follow this path and become a must-visit destination. By supporting local entrepreneurs, fostering creativity, and embracing the charm of our community, we can create a downtown that brings people together and boosts our economy. Let’s work together to make this vision a reality and put Platte City on the map as a thriving, welcoming destination.

Quality of Life

Quality of life in Platte City is often shaped by the “small” things that make a big difference in our daily lives. Reliable services, like weekly trash and recycling pickup, help keep our community clean and efficient. Access to recreational sports and activities for our children is essential, as it keeps them active, engaged, and fosters teamwork and a sense of belonging. Well-maintained roads that are smooth and pothole-free make daily commutes safer and less stressful for everyone.

These everyday essentials play a vital role in the well-being of our residents and make Platte City a great place to live. By prioritizing and improving these aspects, we can build a stronger, more connected community where people thrive and everyday life runs a little smoother. I look forward to hearing from you—what’s working well in our community, and what pain points in your daily life can be improved? Together, we can ensure Platte City continues to grow and improve for everyone.
